Scope of Position:
Intermediate level process development engineer focused on advancing connectivity innovation.
Focus on electromechanical assembly processes, adhesive application, fiber optic processing and small scale mechanisms
Responsible for technical development of new products/processes (under some guidance from senior level engineers. delete this for B/C JG category)
Improving processes and solving problems based on fundamental understanding gained through the use of the scientific method and DOE.
Reducing defects by eliminating root causes.
Application of DMAIC and advanced statistical tools.
Improving product design, manufacturing cost, quality, uptime, yields, cycle time, and safety.
Evaluating new raw materials, defining process parameters, and developing new processing equipment.
Documenting experiment planning and process changes.
Projects could support any Corning division or research and development.
Design and test tooling and fixtures for development of new products from prototyping to high volume production
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Design and develop new processes or improve existing processes at Corning facilities worldwide.
Create operational ranges for parameters defined as a result of experimental development.
Assist in the development of project plans and execute schedules to meet promised deliverables.
Establish process development technical guideline.
Work with local plant process experts and global SMEs on new processes innovation.
Solve problems and improve processes based on fundamental understanding.
Ensure that manufacturing requirements are properly developed and documented in conjunction with appropriate manufacturing, production, and engineering personnel.
Provide information and technical assistance to manufacturing, engineering, and production personnel as required.
Develop documentation for each project and work with associated plant personnel to implement it.
Investigate improved photographic or video techniques to create assembly work instructions for global use
Structured problem solving methods such as KT, Designed Experimentation, and Six Sigma.
Implement Process Control and Process Discipline systems into manufacturing operations.
Analyze process data using statistical tools (e.g. pareto, regression, time charting, analysis of variance, gauge R&R, etc.).
Review and interpret data to make recommendations on immediate actions, long term corrective actions, follow-up experiments, etc.
Troubleshoot equipment and processes.
Document all new ideas for possible patent submission.
Interface on new product designs to evaluate Design for Manufacturing
Create concept sketches and CAD models for new tools, jigs, fixtures and equipment
Interface with team Tool Designers and Tool Makers on machining and fabrication of new tooling
Travel Requirements:
15% travel
Required Skills:
3-7 years experienced in process development.
Excellent project management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Problem solving - Proficient in the use of DOE, SPC, Six Sigma and other process control/ analysis techniques to recommend decision based on thorough data analysis.
Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external customers and within multi-national groups
Ability to clearly express technical ideas
Ability to effectively leverage/influence relevant resources across business divisions
Proactively collaborate throughout the global organization to identify scientific competences that will advance process development
Desired Skills:
Design products or manufacturing processes using CAD (Pro Engineer a PLUS)
Capable of performing complex data analysis using MS excel (SPC), or Minitab software
Familiar with fiber optic theory (a PLUS)
Fluent in foreign languages: Spanish, Chinese, and Polish (a PLUS)
Education:
BS in Mechanical Engineering

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
